The Epic Reading App is seriously a library full of books… with a librarian helping selecting the perfect picks for your children.
If you have ONE educational app on your phone or device, the Epic reading app is the one you need to have for your elementary age child.
You know the importance of reading, but it’s a struggle to fit in reading aloud to your child. If your child is reading independently, it’s a challenge to make sure they are ACTUALLY reading.
Audiobooks on Audible are awesome….checking out books from the library is awesome….but what if you could combine the two and have literally thousands of books for your child to read OR be read to at the click of a finger?
The Epic Reading app is seriously “epic”.
We discovered this amazing app about two years ago when my daughter was 7. I was expecting another educational app with some value- I assumed the book selection would be fairly limited and I didn’t expect the most popular or latest books to be available. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised with the widespread, quality content within the app.

8 Reasons Why the Epic Reading App Must Be On Your Child’s Device
1. Popular Books, Audiobooks, and Educational Videos
The best part of the Epic app is its scope- its incredible.
It’s NOT just an app full of books- it is a digital library that includes books, read-to-me books, audiobooks, quizzes, and educational how-to videos.
For new readers, the read-to-me books are fantastic- it’s seriously hundreds of books that can be listened to (I promise it’s not a computer / robotic voice). The audiobooks offer a vast number of options- my daughter LOVES to listen to these at night.
The educational video component of the app is amazing too. Kids will enjoy the how to build lego challenges, science mystery series, how to draw videos, and colossal questions that inspire creativity and curiosity.
2. Well-Organized and Easy To Navigate
The Epic app is incredibly well-organized. Kids can swipe through and each section has not only a description, but a graphic for those who might not be reading to themselves yet. Parents and kids can search by keyword or explore by interests, such as adventure, basketball, cars or kindness.
3. Multiple Users on 1 Account
Multiple users can use one account. That means you only pay for one monthly subscription.
On the log-in screen, your child simply selects their name and can quickly see all their favorite books and recommended selections.
4. Save Books to Favorites
By themselves, kids can ‘heart’ a book, adding it to their favorites.
This makes it easy for them to find that book they want to read again and again.
5. Recommended Books
The “Recommended For You” section is wonderful- it does EXACTLY what it says it will do.
It is a visual way for kids to easily see new books or videos that are right for them. It’s a personal librarian.
6. Tracking Ability for Parents and Teachers
It’s the one email parents will really love to see….
Parents will receive a message from the Epic App notifying them of how many minutes their child has spent READING within the app.
This is the kind of SAFE screentime you want to see happening!
Additionally, parents can log in at any time and see:
- exactly what content their kids are reading
- number of books read
- number of pages turned
7. Access With or Without Internet
Going on a trip or just want the Wifi shut off on your kid’s device? No problem- simply download a few reading choices before going off-line.
8. Collections of Books
Starting a new unit study for science or history and looking to select appropriate books? Epic has already done that for you.
The collections tab will provide links to books by grade, topic, or unit study.
Epic is a TOTAL Library….
As of 2020, the Epic reading app includes over 40,000 books. It’s honestly like taking the school library and putting it in your child’s lap. Access to ALL books is included in your monthly subscription for $7.99 a month (the first 30 days are free)- that is literally less than purchasing one book AND includes audio versions.
Why Not Try the Epic Reading App? (For Free)
The Epic reading app is EASY, educational, and a VALUE (your first 30 days are FREE).
