Looking for some structure to finish up the school year? Open Tent Academy is offering a Spring series of 10-week classes that include a weekly 90 minute live, online component. Our family has used Open Tent Academy for a wide variety of classes in the past. What stands out about their program is the personalized instruction the teachers provide.
What you WON’T get-
- a robot or video-based program, a boring lecture format, tedious homework, or disorganized class content by someone not skilled in teaching online
What you WILL get-
- a small classroom setting where the teacher gets to know your child, interesting and unique homework assignments and projects, easy access to teachers when questions arise, and teachers who have vast experience teaching virtually
Accountability
Personally, I appreciate the accountability of having a live component and clear due dates to keep my kids on track. All homework is graded by the teacher in a timely manner, with clear feedback. Don’t expect an easy “A”, but expect your children to learn and truly learn ‘how to learn’.
Affordability
Like all things in life, you pay for what you get. Amazing online education is not cheap, but due to a few generous donors, Open Tent Academy has lowered the cost of several of their Spring classes by 50%. Each 10-week class is just $100, which is quite the bargain when you consider you receive a live lesson, homework, grading, and personalized assistance!
