3 Easy Ways to Easily Access Audiobooks in the Car or On the Go- Read, Read, and Read Some More!

Seriously, listening to audiobooks on the go is the easiest way for busy families to make sure kids get daily reading in. NO EXCUSES. You can easily access audiobooks and find content your kids will love. Turn off the DVD player and try audiobooks for a week- you will be shocked an how engaged your kiddos are. Notice that I didn’t add an age-range here- books exist for the youngest listener all the way up to books an entire family will enjoy (affiliate links may be present).

Easily Access Audiobooks On the Go!

1. Audible

If you are like me and love to read BUT lack time, Audible is a must-have! Although I have temporarily stopped my subscription at times to save money, I always miss it and end up reactivating it. Honestly, if you buy 1-2 books a month, the membership is worth it. Watch your emails for sales during which you can obtain top-selling books for minimal credits, like 3 for 2 credit specials.

Looking through my purchase history reveals some of my favorites to listen to with kids of various ages:

  • Magic Tree House Collection (several of the books in one collection)
  • A Dog’s Purpose (we actually listened to several of the books by Bruce Cameron)
  • The Roald Dahl Audio Collection
  • Wonder
  • Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry
  • The Hate U Give
  • The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind
  • The Henry Huggins Audio Collection

All five of us have the Audible app downloaded on our iPhones to listen on the go (one subscription). We also have Amazon Alexa in our kitchen and can play any of our audiobooks at any time. Truly, Audible makes it so we have no excuses not to listen to books.

Read FREE for 30 days!“>Epic, is a GEM of an app for elementary age kids. Costing around $7.99 per month, I initially passed over it until I found a trial deal that was very cheap. Because of the HUGE number of books available in different formats, I maintained my subscription and consider it well worth the cost – the monthly expense is about the same as buying one book elsewhere.

In the Read FREE for 30 days!“>Epic a try.

Youtube

Especially when Maggie was younger, we enjoyed searching for a particular picture book on www.youtube.com and listening / watching the story live. We would use channels like Stories For Kids to find some of her favorites and keep her busy while I was working or working out.

Don’t forget the library – we used to check out books on CD all of the time! Most libraries now provide ebooks with your library card- you just have to set up an account and follow their process.
